For centuries, drinking beer was the only safe way to quench your thirst. Water was often contaminated, and the brewing process sterilized it. Even children drank beer, although it contained less alcohol. In Oirschot, there were numerous small breweries, both inside and outside the village. When, in 1623, the houses on the current market square in Oirschot burned down, there were four breweries among them. One of them relocated to Koestraat, opposite the current brewery building. In 1785, this brewery came into the hands of Jan de Kroon. From that moment on, the brewery would remain in the De Kroon family: 'De Kroon's Brewery.'

Even children drank beer, although it contained less alcohol. In Oirschot, there were numerous small breweries, both inside and outside the village. When, in 1623, the houses on the current market square in Oirschot burned down, there were four breweries among them. One of them relocated to Koestraat, opposite the current brewery building. For centuries, top-fermented beer was brewed, with gruit and herbs determining the taste. From 1910, De Kroon also brewed bottom-fermented beer, better known as pilsner. At that time, there was only one other brewery in Oirschot, part of the De Zwaan restaurant. In 1916, De Kroon also took over this brewery. De Kroon won several prizes for their pilsner both nationally and internationally. Through the marriage of Ad de Kroon to a girl from the Rombauts family, owners of the De Doornboom brewery in Middelbeers, space for a bottling plant and a soda factory was added to the business.
In 2000, Kroonbier and its brewing process were sold to the large brewery Bavaria from Lieshout due to a lack of succession. That marked the end of Kroonbier from Oirschot. The brewery itself remained the property of the De Kroon family; however, they were still allowed to brew other types of beer. Initially done as a hobby, they turned professional in 2014. This led to the establishment of Brewery Vandeoirsprong.
Since 2015, Brewery Vandeoirsprong has been brewing classic beers of consistent quality at the former De Kroon brewery location. Combining fresh water from their own spring with contemporary knowledge and taste, they take pride in the almost four centuries of knowledge and experience embedded in the history of this brewery. They are proud recipients of awards for some of their beers.
